Budget cuts & education

High school students, college kids, teachers, educators, parents … rise up!

Austerity affects all aspects of our education system

  • cuts to schools
  • school closures
  • performance funding
  • student debt
  • rising tuition
  • CEOs running our schools instead of our communities
  • treating schools like a business instead of a public service
  • destruction of a well-rounded education

Education must be controlled by the community – by us. Together – youth, parents, teachers – can bring education to our communities. On November 3rd, we engage in action to call for community control of resources, starting in our public school system.

Get involved  -  organize an action at your school, during the march, or at an institution of austerity. Contact students@portlandactionlab.org to get connected.

Get in touch with the Student Organizing Coalition, which is a coalition of college students in PDX resisting education cuts, tuition increases, etc., meetings are currently Tuesdays at 7 pm in the Greenspace (basement of Smith Building, PSU room 28.)
